East Fremantle returned to the winners list this past Monday recording a 29 point victory over cross-town rivals South Fremantle.

After missing finals in 2021, the East Fremantle Sharks WAFLW team have secured the minor premiership with a game to spare. A dominant 8.14 – 62 to 0.0 – 0 win over West Perth on Sunday saw the Sharks secure top spot, holding their opponents to just one inside-50 for the game.

The Sharks haven’t beaten South Fremantle in more than 12 games and will be looking to turn the tables this Monday in a much-anticipated Fremantle Derby at Fremantle Community Bank Oval.

It has been 8 years since East Fremantle finished ahead of the Bulldogs on the WAFL ladder and the Sharks head into the Derby with good form after winning 5 games on the trot culminating in a win against reigning premiers Subiaco at the WACA last Saturday.

Last weekend, Sharks match day footy was particularly special as both men and women’s teams rallied behind seven-year-old Ariella Italiano and her ongoing battle with the rare genetic mutation condition TBC1D24.

East Fremantle suffered their second loss of the season going down by 15 points against Subiaco at the WACA on Saturday morning.

Round 15 brought many reasons to smile for the East Fremantle Sharks, with Indigenous Round, and the A-Team Game, bringing another three-from-three weekend.
