Reigning Premiers Subiaco Too Good For The Sharks
East Fremantle have lost their round two clash against reigning premiers Subiaco.
With both clubs coming of strong wins in round one, this highly anticipated matchup looked set to be a classic battle up until the start of the third quarter. With the scores level at half-time and the game in the balance, a lacklustre second half cost the Sharks with Subiaco running away 17.12 (114) to 9.13 (67) winners.
Despite strong performances from Brandon Ellis, Brock O'Brien and Rory O'Brien, the Sharks were unable to keep up with Lions.
Subiaco were kicking with the breeze in the first quarter and managed to boot the first two goals of the game within the first two minutes. East Fremantle hit back late in the quarter with strong pressure being applied to Subiaco. Brock O'Brien kicked the Sharks first goal of the game after intercepting the ball from a kick in.
Brandon Ellis started the second quarter on fire, kicking the Sharks first three goals of the term. Unfortunately, East Fremantle were unable to continue this momentum with Subiaco finishing the quarter off strongly. This meant both teams went into the main break with the scores level.
Subiaco came out firing in the third quarter kicking eight unanswered goals. For the Sharks, Jack Perham looked likely when the ball went forward, managing to take a few strong contested marks. Unfortunately his radar was a bit off as he was unable to convert his chances.
The Sharks came home with the breeze in the final quarter and with Jamie McNamara kicking an early goal and reducing the deficit to 35 points, the crowd felt as though a comeback wasn't impossible. Unfortunately this was short-lived as Subiaco kicked the next two goals to put to result beyond doubt.
With the second half very much one way traffic, Danny Charters and Matthew Jupp stood up well in defence. The Sharks can be very pleased with the performance of Brandon Ellis who looked dangerous every time the ball went inside 50 and finished the game with five goals and three behinds.
East Fremantle will look to bounce back this Saturday at 2:15pm as they take on Peel Thunder at Bendigo Bank Stadium. The Sharks will be boosted by the return of midfielder Liam Anthony, with George Hampson and James Bristow possibilities to return from injury.

Development League
Development League suffered a heavy defeat going down to Subiaco by 88 points.
After a competitive first quarter a slick and well-disciplined Subiaco team were able to move the ball cleanly and their forwards as a result were able to take advantage. The loss was also compounded with a knee sustained to Jarryd Lindsay during the first quarter.
Young ruckman, Jack Fletcher, continues to develop nicely, dominating the ruck with 35 hitouts, 12 possessions, 4 marks, 4 tackles and 4 inside 50’s. Others to perform on a bad day were defenders Josh Cuneo, Matt Baseden and Miles Franklin, whilst up forward Dion Anthony kicked another two goals from a forward line that received low inside 50’s.
East Fremantle 5.3 (33) def by Subiaco 18.17 (125)

BEST: J.Fletcher, J.Cuneo, M.Franklin, H.Perham, M.Baseden
Colts
Either side of the senior games, the Colts and 16s produced the positive results of the day, both recording convincing wins for the Sharks.
The Colts were outstanding with the ball and ruthless with their team defence restricting Subiaco to just 4 goals for the match. Had our boys been a little more accurate in front of goals (14.16) the margin of 69 points may have been even greater. Luke Strnadica was hard to match up on forward, kicking 4.5. If he didn’t take the ball small forward Sam Lewis, in his debut, mopped up the crumbs, kicking 3.1. The midfield were on top all day, led by Peter Delaney, who had a game high 30 disposals and 5 inside 50’s and ruckman Michael Cronan who fed the mids with excellent tap work.
East Fremantle 14.16 (100) def Subiaco 4.7 (31)
GOALS: 4 L.Strnadica, 3 S.Lewis, 2 O.Parish, T.Sorrell, 1 S.Little, H.Regan, P.Delaney
BEST: P.Delaney, M.Cronan, J.Snadden, L.Strnadica, S.Lewis
16s Development
The 16s finished off a long day with a comfortable 42 point win. From the first bounce the boys looked switched on and once again their defensive pressure was a highlight, restricting Subi to just three goals for the match. The 16’s are so far undefeated after 4 games, but do come up against some strong opposition in the coming weeks with games against Peel, Claremont and Swans.
East Fremantle 10.9 (69) def Subiaco 3.9 (27)
