THUNDER RUN RIOT AS SHARKS SUFFER HEAVY DEFEAT
East Fremantle’s tough month continued on Saturday, going down to ladder-leaders Peel Thunder by 84 points, 4.10 (34) to 18.10 (118), at The Good Grocer Park.
The Sharks were competitive early, trailing by just three points at the first change, but the Thunder began to pull clear in the second term and led by 28 points at half-time. Peel kept building through the third quarter before a damaging final term, kicking 8.2 to blow the margin out and secure a ninth straight win.
Oscar McDonald was the difference up forward, playing an unfamiliar role for the visitors and finishing with five majors, while Peel spread the scoring load across 11 different goalkickers. Jeremy Sharp was outstanding through the midfield with 24 touches, six marks and two goals to go with two inside-50s.
Tom Grylls, Jono Marsh, Cam Eardley, Jack Cleaver, Liam Robinson and Harry Marsh were named among East Fremantle’s best in a difficult afternoon, with Zac Petersen, Zac Rankin, Oskar Smartt and Robinson each managing a goal for the Sharks.
Peel Thunder now have a bye before taking on Subiaco in Round 16, while East Fremantle will look to regroup and address a third quarter that again proved costly as they prepare for Round 15.
RESERVES: SHARKS RESERVES OUTCLASSED BY THUNDER
East Fremantle Reserves were no match for Peel Thunder on Saturday, going down 6.4 (40) to 16.10 (106) at The Good Grocer Park.
The Thunder set up the win early, kicking seven goals to one in the opening term and never letting the Sharks back into the contest. East Fremantle found some rhythm in the third quarter, adding four goals to keep the scoreboard ticking over, but Peel’s accuracy in front of goal and dominance around the ball proved too much across the four quarters.
Jack Cocking was the standout for the Sharks, booting four goals, with Riley Martin and Kaydn Wilson also finding the scoreboard. Lincoln Martignago, Josh Nathan, Tom Grierson, Cocking and Martin were among East Fremantle’s best.
Archie Caldow and Ryda Luke led the way for Peel with four goals apiece, while Marcus Fitzgerald and Ashton Harris also chimed in as the Thunder’s forward line proved too potent for the Sharks to contain.
East Fremantle Reserves will look to bounce back in Round 15 as they continue their push up the ladder.
COLTS: SHARKS COLTS CRUSH THUNDER
East Fremantle Colts produced their best performance in weeks to record a comprehensive 49-point win over Peel Thunder, 12.8 (80) to 4.7 (31), at The Good Grocer Park.
The Sharks were in control from the opening bounce, kicking three unanswered goals in the first term before extending their advantage with four more in the second quarter to lead by 30 at the main break. East Fremantle continued to pile on the scoring through the second half, adding another five goals across the final two terms while holding Peel to just two.
Isaac Boothey led the way up forward with three goals, with Kye Ormerod and Noah Hannaford also among the multiple goalkickers on the day. Jet Abbott, Jordan Gould, Boothey, Riley Singleton and Hannaford were named in the Sharks’ best.
The victory keeps East Fremantle firmly in the finals conversation on the Colts ladder, with the club now looking to carry the momentum into Round 15.
