EFFC 16’s Programme Wrap

Friday, May 11, 2018 - 2:41 PM

Our 16’s finished their 2018 carnival in style against Claremont with a spirited and hard fought 13-point win after being down by 20 points at half time.

Players from the MidWest and State selected side were rested for this game, giving us the opportunity to play everyone in squad.  This enabled the coaching staff to fulfil their guarantee of playing everyone for at least 3 games in the Carnival.

Several players from the 16s, including those in the state side, have been invited to Colts training on Wednesdays. This is an opportunity for the boys to further develop their football knowledge and experience going forward with the possibility to play for the Colts later in the season.

East Fremantle finished the Carnival with 3 wins, 1 draw & 2 losses (one after the siren). We played 40 boys and 7 of those have been invited to the State 16’s squad; Owen Dann, Ed Curley, Jack Carroll, Campbell Tirant (All MidWest) Brandon Walker, Chris Walker and Keanu Haddow.

A very successful carnival was run for the 16’s, with Larry Cavallo (Head Coach) operating a tremendous programme. Larry also spent time developing his coaches along the way, with Dan Richards and Liam Anthony both taking the head coaching reins for a game. He also had Tony Watson and Andrew Browne (Dev coaches) sit in as assistant coaches for a game. Larry alongside Adam Drake – Brockman (runner) were outstanding with their commitment and support of the programme. Neil Mildenhall’s extensive experience was also invaluable for the players and coaches alike. Brendan Lewis & Nick Kommer (Strength & Conditioning) ensured our players were always fit and ready to perform.

Team Manager Kylie Blakemore performed her role magnificently during the whole carnival and has helped lift the professionalism to a new level.

The 16’s programme wound up on Friday Night at the club with players & parents attending a presentation. Players were presented with their Individual Development Programmes by the coaches detailing what they need to work on going forward. Parents enjoyed a sit-down meal and a few drinks on the night.

The East Fremantle Football Club have a talented crop of players in this group who will be invited to attend the Colts pre-season in November this year.
