Rd 16 Reserves Wrap Up
East Fremantle went down to a strong West Perth Reserves side by 62 points at Pentanet Stadium on Saturday.
It was an even first quarter, with the Sharks enjoying large moments of momentum to lead for most of the quarter before a late 2 goal flurry saw the Falcons take an 8 point lead into the break. It was all the Falcons from there as turnovers haunted the Sharks and West Perth made them pay kicking away to win the game comfortably.
To make matters worse for the Sharks, injuries to Lucas Gangemi, Lucas Brown, Alex Crowe and Tom Wallis saw the team play most of the second half with 1 on the bench. Ira Jetta was the only multiple scorer for the Sharks, kicking 2 goals.
Better players for East Fremantle were Finn O’Reilly, who played down back and repelled many West Perth attacks, Matt Williamson, who worked tirelessly through the midfield and collected 31 disposals and Enrique Aiken-Featherstone, who had 24 disposals and 9 tackles.
In a positive for the Sharks, Dillon O’Reilly and Tom Monaghan returned to action after lengthy layoffs and both got through the game unscathed.
The Sharks will now enjoy a bye before taking on Swan Districts, Claremont and East Perth to finish the season.
