The AOS Development Squad Round 3 Report
~~The AOS Development squads had their 3rd Carnival fixture on Tuesday 4th October against The East Perth Royals, which was held at ATOM Stadium. The day was a great success for the Sharks with our 8Bs and 9Bs getting their first wins, with some outstanding performances. The 8Bs started off the day once again followed by the 9Bs, 8As, 9As and finishing off with our year 10s.
The 8Bs had a well fought game, with the match being very close all the way through. William Johnson worked exceptionally well down back before coming off with Injury. Talls William Fransden and Sam Collins were excellent, especially in the ruck and Forward line. Aidan Dawson and Mitchell Collins worked tirelessly in the middle and helped work the ball forward for scoring opportunities. The boys went right to the edge and managed to secure their first win, which will hopefully boost their confidence going into the next fixture against Peel Thunder.
Goals: W. Fransden, A. Dawson, M.Collins.
Best: M. Collins, A. Dawson, S. Collins.
EFFC – 7.7.49
EPFC – 7.5.47
The 9Bs were exceptional from start to finish, which was a turnaround from their previous games. The run and smart ball use from speedster Harrison Cormack was excellent, and this set up numerous scoring opportunities, including 3 goals for himself. Nikola Tesevic work hard down back, with some fantastic marks, which kept East Perth from scoring. Daniel Schmidt was also very good off half back and his decisions to switch the ball wide made for open space. This then enabled our wingman to run and carry forward. Oliver Doaks ball use in stoppages was very smart and contributed to scoring opportunities. The boys were hard to stop and continued until the final siren which notched up their first win for the Carnival.
Goals: H. Cormack 3, J. Curtis 2, H, Quartermaine 1, D. Curtis 1, K, McNally 1, K. Hanson 1, D. Schmidt 1, E. Browne 1, J. Little 1.
Best: H. Cormack, N. Tesevic, O. Doak.
EFFC – 12.8.80
EPFC – 4.2.26
The 8As had another standout performance with 11 goal scorers for the game. Our Mid-West boys Campbell Tirant, Edward Curley and Jack Carroll hit the score board and were hard to stop. The two Walker brothers Chris and Brandon yet again showed us what they are capable of doing by running the length of the oval for scoring opportunities. They are both absolutely outstanding to watch! Josh Gray worked very hard in the midfield along with Tyson Burns. Talls Zachary Goodacre, Josh Stedman and Sam Grattidge were fantastic as targets up forward and in the ruck. The boys were too good for their opposition coming away with another big win.
Goals: C. Tirrant, E. Curley, S. Grattidge, M. Davis, Z. Goodacre, D. Savy, T. Burns, C. Creighton, M. Best, J. Carroll, C. Casale
Best: J. Gray, C. Walker, B. Walker.
EFFC – 17.9.111
EPFC – 5.4.34
The 9As were a standout against their opponents with some excellent defensive work from Trey Ruscoe, Trent rivers, Lachlan McGrath and Jordan Randall. Jay Patton was outstanding in the midfield along with Leroy Pigram on the wing and Bailey Hodge. Luke Jackson was a standout in the ruck and up forward and was an easy target. Tom Wallis was another forward prospect and he took some exceptional marks from the forward pocket. It was hard to stop our 9As run and carry as they come out victors, but the behinds were costly as our score could have been greater.
Goals: O. Hitchcock 2, T. Wallis 2, T. Rivers 2, L. Jackson 1, L. Pigram 1, B. Hodge 1.
Best: J. Paton, T. Ruscoe, T. Wallis.
EFFC – 9.16.70
EPFC – 1.5.11
The year 10s were our last game of the day and the boys were determined to get a win after their one-point defeat by Perth. After our 9 changes from the previous game, a few inclusions were installed with a power forward and ruck combo in Connor Begley and Josh Goodwin. The boys in the first half had another close encounter with their opponents, with scores being up and down either way. Jeremy Sharp and Luke Dobson continued their excellent form with brilliant ball use from half back and the midfield. Bay Tucek was at his usual best in the middle with smart ball use and Zack Fuller was exceptional in the stoppages. The second half our Mid-West boys Darcey Rowe, Michael Wright and Jai Jackson were outstanding and set up numerous scoring opportunities for Josh Goodwin, Jeremy Sharp and Conor Begley. Sam Whitaker controlled his men down back which contributed to the defensive lines brilliant work in minimising scoring shots for East Perth. Another great effort for our boys with an 11-point victory.
Goals: J. Goodwin 2, J. Sharp 2, Z. Fuller 1, M. Cusworth 1, S. Meade 1, C. Begley 1, L. Dobson.
Best: B. Tucek, Z. Fuller, J. Sharp, S. Whitaker, J. Jackson.
EFFC- 9.8.62
