Skipper’s 100th Has Sharks Ready to Go
The Sharks are heading to Medibank Stadium this week to take on East Perth. Both teams are coming off a loss, with the Sharks looking to bounce back after narrowly losing the Kerry Coates-Joyce Allen Perpetual MND Trophy to Swan Districts. With only 1 game separating 2nd and 8th positions, this weekend's game is crucial for both teams and is a great opportunity for the Sharks to move up the ladder and back into finals contention.
The game on Saturday has special significance for the Sharks, as it is a celebration of skipper Rory O'Brien, who is playing is 100th game for East Fremantle. After playing 92 games for Peel Thunder, Rory's contribution for East Fremantle has been outstanding. Rory has won 3 Lynn medals and the 2013 Sandover medal in his time with the Sharks, with the past two years leading from the front as Captain.
After strong performances in last week’s game against Swan Districts, Miles Franklin and Jack Fletcher get the opportunity to back up against a tough East Perth side featuring a number of AFL players. Unfortunately 1st gamer Fraser Perry (3 goals) is unavailable for this match after suffering a slight hip flexor injury during last week's game.
Other possible inclusions are Sam Read and Jack Perham, whilst strong performances from Aaron Holmes, Jake Schleicher (36 possessions) and Brandon Ellis (6 goals) in the Development League last week may see them in the starting 22. And following on from the success of Colts debutant Perry last week the Sharks may look to blood another Colt for their debut in Josef Hebiton. Hebiton (191 cm) has been in outstanding form in recent weeks playing in defence for the East Fremantle Colts.
As mentioned Fraser Perry will miss, as will Ryan Lester-Smith and veteran Mark McGough, who has been rested after playing 3 games over a thirteen days.
The League match begins at 2:15pm, following on from the earlier matches, where the Colts will play at 9:00am and the Development League at 11:30am. All games are at Medibank Stadium.
