Match Preview: Sharks v Falcons
The Sharks will take on the Falcons in a crucial clash at HBF Arena on Saturday the 16th May. The Sharks are coming off their fourth win in a row and now sit in second spot on the ladder with 5 wins, one win ahead of West Perth in third spot. The Sharks will be without reliable defender Andrew Stephen for the clash due to injury but he will be replaced in the starting 22 by Matthew Jupp who returns from injury, also included in the squad are Jack Fletcher, Aaron Holmes, and Jake Schleicher.
The Falcons have one out this week Kristopher Shannon, he will be replaced by Marc Crisp, while Tyler Keitel, Steven Potente, and Blake Wilhelm have also been included in the squad of 25. A win to the Falcons this weekend would see them jump the Sharks on the ladder making it even more important for the Sharks to win to keep themselves in the top two. The last time these sides met was Round 20 last year, also at HBF Arena. On this occasion the Sharks 9.11. (65) defeated West Perth 7.6. (48). HBF Arena has been a successful road trip for the Sharks in the past winning the majority of the games (15 of 26) they have played at the Falcons' home ground.
The Sharks Development League will look to bounce back after a 52 point loss to Perth last Sunday. The Sharks will hope to put a consistent performance together which they have struggled with so far this season, resulting in just two wins from 7 appearances. West Perth have a had just a slightly better start to season 2015, putting 3 wins on the board so far and sitting in fifth on the ladder. A win to the Sharks will see them equaling the Falcons for wins this season but a poor percentage will keep them from moving too far up the table. The Sharks Development side takes on the Falcons at HBF Arena at 11:30am on Saturday.
The Sharks Colts side recorded their fourth win of the season against Perth last week with a depleted side (State 18s) and take on the Falcons this week who are sitting second on the ladder with five wins from seven games. A win for the Sharks this week will help them stay in the top five and push some of the topsides in the competition for their spots on the table. The Colts will be back at their usual time of 9:00am on Saturday at HBF Arena.
