Match Preview: Sharks v Swan Districts
This Saturday the 18th April the Sharks take on Swan Districts at Steel Blue Oval starting at 2:15pm. The Sharks are coming off a gutsy win against Claremont where they got up by 3 points, while the Swans are also coming off a win and have now won 2 of 3 games this year coming into their round 5 clash with the Sharks who are now sitting with 2 wins and 2 losses at this early stage of the season.
The Sharks will be without Mathew Jupp this week as he recovers from an off the ball hit involving Claremont’s Beau Maister who received a 4 match ban for the incident. The Sharks other out this week is Dion Anthony while the players added to the squad are Barry Barone, George Hampson, Aaron Holmes, Brock O’Brien, and Andrew Stokes. Brock O’Brien is likely to play after missing last week with a hamstring injury, if selected in the team Aaron Holmes and Barry Barone will make their league debuts.
The Swans have named an unchanged line-up with three additions to their squad being Simon Donovan, Nelson Ansey, and David Mckay. The last time these two teams met was in last year's semi-final at ATOM Stadium where the Sharks 19.7. (121) defeated the Swans 14.14. (98) in a come from behind thriller. Despite the road trip the Sharks have done well in the past against the Swans at Steel Blue Oval winning 58 of the 110 games played there, giving them extra confidence playing away from home on Saturday. The Swans will be celebrating the careers of Percy Johnson and Keith Slater in their lunch before the game. Percy played 180 games for East Fremantle, including in the 1957 Premiership.
Post Match Awards will be at The Left Bank from 6:30pm. All supporters are welcome to attend and every Sharks member receives 2 for 1 meals when they show their membership card anytime throughout the 2015 season.
The Development League are coming off a big defeat against Claremont last weekend and will look to bounce back and record their second win of the season. The Swans form hasn’t been any better in the Development League also coming off a big loss to South Fremantle and only winning the one game at this early stage of the season. Saturday’s game starts at 11:30 am at Steel Blue Oval.
The Sharks Colts’ side had their first loss of the season at the hands of an impressive Claremont last weekend who remained undefeated in the competition following that win. The Sharks will have another tough opposition this week when they take on the Swans who are also undefeated this season; the game starts at 9:00am at Steel Blue Oval.
