WAFC 8/9 Girls Championships a Huge hit at Shark Park!
Representative sides from East Fremantle, Claremont, Peel and Swan Districts participated in the inaugural WAFC 8/9 Girls Championships held at East Fremantle Oval on Friday November 29. The round robin format was a great opportunity for our budding female stars to develop their football further and the girls involved thoroughly enjoyed playing under lights and testing themselves against other talented youth players.
Each team played each other once throughout the evening in what was a remarkably even carnival with each team winning at least one game on the night. The skill level and talent on show was of an extremely high standard and the games were played in fantastic spirit. The East Fremantle girls reigned supreme in the end, taking home the shield over the Peel side with Swan Districts and Claremont closely behind.
A big thank you must go out to all of the WAFC district development staff who made this event possible. We also must recognise the efforts of the East Fremantle Women’s Football Club who supported our girls throughout the night with coaches Caitlyn Edwards and Brianna Green (both Women’s League players) doing a fantastic job. Finally we must congratulate all of the girls who participated and look forward to seeing them continue to blossom as our next generation of Youth girls and Women’s league players!
If you, or anyone you know is interested in playing womens or girls football, contact your local Development Officer- in the East Fremantle District that is Daren Bell (daren.bell@effc.com.au)
