Update on East Fremantle Football Club's First Game at New Facility
This is an important update regarding our first game at the new facility at East Fremantle Community Park, which was scheduled for June 29, after previously being postponed.
Late on Friday afternoon, the Town of East Fremantle advised us that while good progress has been made in recent weeks, the playing surface remains narrowly short of the threshold required to receive approval from the West Australian Football Commission.
Like you, we remain frustrated and disappointed. However, we will not compromise on player safety or the long-term sustainability of the oval.
We remain optimistic that we will be playing football on the oval in 2024 – with testing to take place in late June ahead of a tentative return date to Shark Park of July 13. This fixture is the Grand Final rematch against Peel Thunder – a fitting game to welcome us back to Moss Street where we will unfurl our 2023 Premiership flags.
We are actively working on an alternate venue for our June 29 match against Claremont and will provide further updates on these arrangements. This should be a great game – with Claremont looking to avenge their 15 goal defeat by us in round two, as we celebrate the 30th anniversary of our 1994 League and Reserves Premierships.
While this further delay will be felt by our players, coaches and administrators – and of course our loyal fans – it is a short moment in time when we consider our 126 year history and we know that the return to our spiritual home will set us up for long-term success, both on and off field.
We thank you for your patience and continued support – and ask that you continue to support our players each and every week.
Nearing the end of their season, our Women’s League side have wrapped up top spot with one round to go on their quest for back-to-back flags, with our Roger’s Cup girls currently sitting in 2nd spot.
At the halfway mark of their season, our Men’s League side sit in 4th spot after a gutsy final quarter effort secured the win over West Perth yesterday, with our Reserves in 2nd spot following a 7-goal win and our Colts sitting in 4th spot after a tough loss.
Now more than ever, we ask you to stay united for the Blue and White.
