Futures Round 4 Wrap Up
The game started as an evenly balanced affair with both sides moving the ball from end to end. Whilst Perth had their chances, it was EF who made the most of theirs, kicking 2 goals whilst Perth could only manage 4 behinds. The second quarter continued in the same vein with both sides seeing plenty of the ball and creating opportunities for their forwards. It was our turn to miss the big sticks adding only 1 goal for the quarter whilst Perth found the radar and kicked 3 straight goals.
The 3rd quarter could not break the deadlock between two very evenly matched teams, and it was all tied up at the three-quarter time break. The coaches urged an extra effort from the boys in the last term, reminding them all that the extra running they have completed on training nights would prove to be beneficial in finishing the game strong. Once again it was a tight tussle, and it was only in the final five minutes that we were able to score 2 consecutive goals that broke the game open for us to run out 12-point winners.
The team was well led through the midfield by Jake Cornelius, whilst Dylan Connelly was resolute in defence, and Ben Gatti was a solid contributor all day. Kye Griffin proved a handy target up forward finishing with 3 goals for the game.
A great result considering the changes to the team.
This week we look forward to a derby clash with archrivals South Fremantle, Saturday morning 9:30am at Revo Fitness Stadium in Claremont.
