Jed Hagan Returns
After a successful stint in the SANFL with Port Adelaide, where he played finals and finished 3rd in the Best and Fairest, Jed Hagan returns to Shark Park for the 2024 season.
Hagan burst onto the League scene at East Fremantle as a 17 year old, playing 8 games in 2022, including 3 finals. He managed 8 goals and was one of the teams better performers in the disappointing Preliminary Final lost to Claremont. An All-Australian in the under aged competition, Hagan was unlucky to be overlooked in the AFL draft. But an opportunity to do a pre-season with Port Adelaide saw him make the move to the city of churches.
“I loved the experience at Port. It gave me a great insight into how the AFL system works and how players at the highest level prepare to be at their best week in and week out. Being able to train with these guys was invaluable in improving my own game”.
Hagan once again experienced the disappointment of missing selection in the draft, despite playing 19 League games with the Port Magpies, and decided to make the move back to WA.
“I’m excited to be back at the Sharks again. I’m keen to take my game to another level as well and watching the boys take out the Premiership last year was awesome. The squad is extremely talented and I’m looking forward to putting my case forward and being apart of the push for another successful year”.
Football Manager, Brad Dodd, is excited to see Hagan back in the Blue and White.
“Jed has come back and really hit the ground running, winning our 2km time trial against a very strong field. He is a hard working player and has embraced our program to date and set himself up for a big year. You forget that he’s still only 20 and he’s already played just under 30 Senior games. We’d expect him to continue to develop as a forward, while looking to have stints through the midfield”.
Of the field, Jed is beginning a Teachers degree at Curtin, while working part time as an Education Assistant.
“It’s really important I have some balance outside of football and i’m looking forward to starting Uni life shortly.”
Hagan will don the number 25 jumper and has been sponsored by Geraldton Toyota.
