DANIELLE GREEN
Dear Members,
I am pleased to nominate for a position of Director of the East Fremantle Football Club. The blue and white is synonymous with our family, and as the daughter of Doug and Julie Green, I am a passionate supporter and advocate for the ongoing success of this iconic institution.
I am a results-driven and visionary executive with a proven track record of leading and guiding organisations to achieve strategic objectives. I am currently the General Manager of the Dowerin Machinery Field Days, Western Australia’s largest agricultural event connecting industry and government with the state’s grain growers and merino producers. This role gives me broad experience across the pillars of operations and compliance, financial management, marketing and communications, stakeholder engagement, sponsorship, and culture and community. I have held this position since February 2022.
Reporting to a board, and as a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors I am well versed in governance practices and the roles and responsibilities of directors.
As a keen traveller my career landed me in Italy in 2001 where I gained international sports experience managing the sponsorship portfolio for Europe and the Middle East for Italian sports brand Kappa and working in press operations on large events including the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics and the Doha Asian Games.
Returning to Perth in 2008 with a young son, I joined the Seven West Media newsroom, developing and managing the event brands and series across both business and lifestyle for The West Australian and Channel 7.
I joined Business News in 2019, as a General Manager tasked with rebuilding and developing the events program as well as the overall organisational rebrand and marketing communications strategy to create content and grow audiences.
Outside of official work duties I am a mentor for Perth Mentor Walks, established to build networks and provide advice for the career progression of women.
I would be delighted to be able to use my experience to serve on the board to support the Chief Executive and operational and football teams of the Club and for you, our members. Fins Up!
Yours sincerely,
Danielle Green
JOHN IPSEN
In my working environment, I have over 35 years of experience within commercial business and Not for Profit organisations, in various executive level roles, including CEO (ASX listed and private) and Company Secretary (qualified), Board Member, Executive Coach, Management Consultant, General Manager, Project Manager and Operations Manager of many companies. I am a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (MAICD).
I am currently employed as the Executive Director at Jobs, Tourism Science and Innovation (JTSI) where I am responsible for the WA Governments $80million NFT programs (including significant grant funding). I recently acted as the Deputy Director General (DDG) whilst the DDG was overseas. I also sit on the Corporate Executive and am a member of the Audit and Risk Committee at JTSI, which
gives me a very good understanding and commitment to Corporate Governance, Compliance, Risk Management, Strategic and Project Planning, Fiduciary duties, Financial and Legal matters. I regularly meet with Government Ministers and my ability to communicate and liaise accordingly is proven.
Currently, I also supervise the JTSI team who provide administration support to the WA government Aboriginal Economic Advisory Board and prior to this engagement, I was the CEO of one of WA’s largest Aboriginal organisations, which has an annual operating budget of $30million.
I previously spent eight years on the Board of EFFC (seven as Vice President) and (among many other Board related roles) was directly involved in the initial design, layout, cost and planning of the new East Fremantle Oval Precinct. This included canvassing and engaging with numerous key and influential stakeholders. I have skills in policy development, grant and sponsorship funding and community engagement.
I also sit on the CricketWest Board as Vice Chair (a 10,000 member organisation), which includes engaging with key stakeholders at both Government and non Government agencies.

Joining the board of EFFC gave me the opportunity to use my strategic and curious nature as a leader to drive opportunities and change. As a board, we strategically positioned ourselves for a growth path, new stadium, working towards operational renewal and refocus, committing to our development and talent programs and integration of our WAFLW. I have absolutely loved my portfolio of Director of Women’s Football, I have enjoyed learning about the game, watching their success, I really value the relationships I have built with the players, coaches, and families. Supporting the players and their families, has been a wonderful honor as a board member.
Our goal is to create a sporting precinct for our Sharks Community. As a Board member, I know the level of commitment that goes into positioning a business for success. The extensive time and effort to successfully transition the changes, to refocus and refresh our club for long term success has been extensive personally and professionally, it has given me opportunities to participate, influence and drive change which will ensure our club’s long-term security and build a successful business for the members, players, and community.
I bring the right focus and tenacity to make hard decisions as a board member, have courageous conversations that positions our operations, supporting our Midwest talent, and governing our development and structure of our football programs to ensure people within our care are supported and given opportunities to achieve their success. This is what excites me, and I want to continue to drive our business for growth of the game, players, and our club. I am passionate about creating a culture of inclusivity to allow everyone to thrive in our sporting environment.
I would welcome another term on the Board, thank you for the nomination of Damien Condon, past player of EFFC and AFL Legend and Grant Teakle, long term Shark supporter from the Midwest, and father of Julia and Tiani Teakle who play WAFLW and AFL.
MICHELLE MAGDY
I am a seasoned professional with extensive experience in both the sports and media industries, and I currently serve as the Head of Operations at Tennis West. In this role, I play a pivotal role in guiding the organisation towards operational excellence. By collaborating closely with the board and sub-committees, I ensure that our strategic directives are effectively translated into operational plans, fostering a culture of alignment and growth. One of the key highlights of my career has been my consistent success in obtaining, managing, and acquitting substantial grants from prominent partners such as the Department of Sport and Cultural Industries and Healthway. This experience, rooted in my years of collective media and sports industry know-how, allows me to bridge the gap between organisational strategy and practical implementation. Continuing to bring this knowledge and experience to East Fremantle Football club and in working with the new CEO and team, would ultimately taking the club to the next level.
My current involvement with the board has given me valuable insights into the governance aspects of the organisation. This board experience, albeit brief, has provided me with a deeper understanding of the strategic decision-making process and the need for continued improvement in both community engagement and grant management. As I continue to leverage my extensive expertise in sports and media, I am committed to further enhancing the impact of our initiatives, aligning them with strategic outcomes, and contributing to the organisation's journey towards sustained growth and success.
Healthway Testimonial:
“Michelle has been instrumental in the development of strong multi-tiered strategies to educate the community about SunSmart and healthy eating messages. Her leadership, communication skills and attention to detail has strengthened Tennis West’s position as a valued Healthway partner.” Shannon Wright, Senior Project Officer
PAUL CHAPMAN
Two years ago, I embarked on an exciting journey when I joined the board of our great club and I am pleased to announce my nomination for a second term, seeking your support to continue the work we've begun.
While our on-field performance has been fantastic, there is a pressing need to focus on off-field initiatives to ensure the club's consistent profitability. We must seize the opportunity presented by our new facility to secure the financial future of the East Fremantle Football Club by ensuring we have the appropriate professional skillsets and stamina on our elected board to realise the full potential of the exciting opportunities ahead for us.
I’m the owner and managing director of a successful media business and serve as Finance Director of the IABC (WA) board. I also recently completed the AICD Directorship course. I have strong business development and finance skills, an understanding of the modern business landscape we operate in, together with an extensive professional network in Perth which I believe will all be a great asset to the EFFC in my role as director.
I am a young family man - you may have seen my kids around living their best lives in blue and white, loving the club like I did when I was their age. I grew up watching the Sharks behind the goals at Marmion Street, following in the footsteps of my father and grandfather.
Beyond my professional capacity and current role on the EFFC board, I am deeply engaged in various aspects of our community. I volunteer as junior coach for my son’s rugby team and am active in our school community. My personal hobbies include running and playing touch rugby in the summer.
During my time on the board, I have come to learn that despite many differences in opinions, everyone shares the same vision for our club, which is to see our club prosper for generations to come. My energy and ideas are fuelled by a genuine passion to build a strong club for my children’s generation and the others that follow. I am eager to finish what we have started, and we need to continue to push forward, not look back.
To get us to where we need to be is going to require skills, energy and a lot of hard work. I truly believe I have a significant contribution to make so that we can shape a future where the East Fremantle Football Club stands as a beacon of success, resilience, and unity.
I therefore ask for your support in this election.
Thank you for your trust and continued commitment to our shared vision.
ROB YOUNG
I am honoured to be nominated for the position of a Director and thrilled at the prospect of contributing to the ongoing success of our cherished club. With a playing history spanning 170 league games for this great club, I have not only showcased my dedication on the field but have also translated that passion into unwavering support, marking me as a devoted past player and life member. For over 14 years, my business ‘Young 4 Life Fitness’ operated within the East Fremantle Football Club, affording me a profound immersion in the club's culture and day-to-day operations. Additionally, my involvement in an unsuccessful tender for new facilities has equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of financial projections on both sides of our commercial operations, offering unique insights and strategic opportunities for the EFFC's future.
My commitment to the success of the club extends beyond just a desire for this position; I am driven to leave a lasting impact. Central to my vision is the promotion of equality among members, staff, and players, ensuring that every individual associated with the club feels genuinely valued and included.
Embracing the power of community engagement and innovation, I aspire to drive the club forward through strategic thinking, fresh ideas, and a youthful energy. Let us collectively navigate a path toward a future defined by success, inclusivity, and a vibrant community spirit that enriches the lives of our members, supporters and the East Fremantle Football Club alike.
