Semi Final WAFLW Match Day Report
In the first semi-final, East Fremantle came up against Swan Districts at Fremantle Oval this past Sunday. Four changes were made to the Round 16 side with Laura Catherine and Ashlee Atkins coming back into the side along with Nadya Browne and Grace Freeman who both returned from injury. In an even opening term, the Sharks were efficient going forward as Chloe Reilly kick started the Sharks day with a check-side from the boundary before Freeman kicked truly from a set shot four minutes later giving the Sharks a 12 point quarter time lead.
The Sharks built on their momentum in the second term led by Beth Beckett and Larissa Versaci. Mylee Leitch kicked the opening goal of the term before Raison snuck one home. Versaci closed the quarter out with an impressive snap from the pocket as the blue & whites extended their advantage to 25 points at the main break. Importantly after half time the Sharks stuck to the task at hand controlling field position. As a result, Raison kicked her second for the day followed by a long range Zipporah Fish effort with East Fremantle holding a game high lead of 37 points turning to the final term.
The final quarter saw Swans kick the sole goal for the quarter with the final result being a 29 point victory to the Sharks. East Fremantle face South Fremantle this Sunday in the preliminary final at Fremantle Oval with bounce down at 3.15pm.
