R12 WAFLW Match Day Report
WAFLW:
East Fremantle took on West Perth this past Sunday in Indigenous Round of the WAFLW Season with Zipporah Fish leading the team out.
Prior to bounce down, both clubs lined up for an Acknowledgement of Country before exchanging a gift, with East Fremantle gifting West Perth a painted football.
To add to the occasion, Sharon Wong celebrated her 150th game at League level for the Sharks. In team news, Ashlee Atkins, Kim Boulton and Jasmine Johansen came back into the side.
The Sharks started with plenty of energy with Fish kicking the first major of the day with her trademark run and carry on full display. The Falcons responded minutes later before Chloe Reilly stamped her name on the contest kicking three goals in five minutes. West Perth kicked a red time goal to bridge the margin to 12 points at the first break.
The Sharks continued to control field territory in the second term with Reilly adding her fourth for the game as the blue and whites kicked away.
The game turned into an arm wrestle in the third term as the game was played between the arcs. The Sharks were lifted when second gamer Elsie Simpson booted her first goal of her League career.
East Fremantle recaptured their ball movement in the fourth quarter and kicked a further three goals through Anjelique Raison, Grace Freeman and Samara Pluschke as the Sharks recorded a 38 point victory.
East Fremantle now face South Fremantle on Monday June 5 at the WACA with bounce down at 4.45pm in the annual Pride fixture as the club celebrates inclusion and diversity.
