Welcome Ben McGuire
Welcome Ben McGuire
East Fremantle would like to announce the signing of Ben McGuire for the 2023 season.
Originally from the Mount Lawley Inglewood JFC, Ben made his debut for East Perth in 2019 and has played 16 games and kicked 18 goals for the Royals. He played 8 games in 2022. Ben is the cousin of current Shark, Reuben McGuire, and the relationship played a pivotal role in Ben making the move.
“I’m very excited to play with my cousin, he is like a little brother to me, we are best friends and i’m confident we’ll bring the best out of each other”.
Football Manager, Brad Dodd, gave us his insight on the new arrival.
“We have been following Bens’ progress over the years and he hasn’t quite nailed the opportunities he was given at the Royals. We see him initially joining our forward group but there’s no reason over time that he could spend time through the midfield or across half back. He has genuine pace and a penetrating left foot kick and on his day can be extremely damaging. His challenge is to close the gap between his best and worst and become a more consistent player”.
Ben is looking forward to starting pre-season and believes he can add to the group.
“I have watched the Sharks a bit and they play with a lot of speed and flair; these are things that I feel I can add to the group. I can’t wait to get started and build strong relationships with the boys and have a successful 2023”.
Ben will join the rest of his team mates for the start of pre-season in late November.
