Welcome back, Josh Cripps
East Fremantle would like to announce the signing of Josh Cripps for the 2023 season.
Originally from Northampton, Josh has re-joined the Sharks after spending last season with the Carlton VFL side, where he played 12 games, including a final, and kicked 8 goals for the season. Cripps had made the move to Melbourne to train with the Carlton AFL side in a hope of winning an SSP position. Cripps is keen to take the learnings from Carlton into the next pre-season.
“The biggest takeaway was the professionalism and expectation required to prepare for an AFL season. I will look to take those learnings into this pre-season and work bloody hard to improve and hit the ground running in 2023.
Football Manager, Brad Dodd, believes that Cripps can push for a League spot early in 2023.
“Josh is a 200cm, 95kg Forward/Ruck. He is a smart footballer, who works hard and is continually looking to improve on his game. He had a fantastic backend to his Colts season in 2021, which saw him rewarded with State selection and earn the opportunity to train at Carlton. We see him as having the potential to lead our Ruck or provide support in the Ruck while playing as a key forward.”
Cripps is excited to re-join his mates at East Fremantle and get to work.
“I’m looking forward to getting stuck in and re-joining my mates and creating strong connections with my new team-mates. My first aim is to get fitter and stronger and I know I will get pushed hard within the East Fremantle program. 2022 was a promising year for the Sharks and I’m really excited and bullish where this group can go in 2023”.
Josh will join the group when they begin pre-season training in late November.
