MAINWARING RETURNS TO THE SHARKS

The East Fremantle Football Club is excited to announce some key coaching appointments for the 2023 season. Sam Mainwaring has been appointed our Colts Coach for the 2023 season along with Sam Buhagiar being appointed our Future’s (16’s) coach.

 After a thorough selection process, Sam Mainwaring steps up to the head Colts Coach role after being an assistant coach in our Colts program last season. Sam has a long history of coaching young talent , with him coaching North Fremantle Colts for 5 years prior to joining our program. Sam’s experience as a school teacher and running the AFL program within the school will no doubt assist him to build strong relationships with the Colts playing group.

 Sam is a born and bred Geraldton lad and his knowledge and understanding of the Midwest region will also be a great asset to add to our strong connection with our country zone.

 Sam Buhagiar joins our Future’s program as Coach after also being an assistant coach in our 2022 Colts program.

 Sam is also a school teacher and is very active in leading the AFL specialty program for years 7-10 at his school. Sam has numerous year’s experience, coaching various development programs, along with coaching Curtin-Wesley colts.

 Both Sam’s are very excited to commence their respective programs for the upcoming season and look forward to developing our young men into future senior footballers for the club, by teaching and mentoring them on all aspects of the game.

 From a club view it is fantastic to see coaches who have come through our program get the opportunity to grow their coaching journey within our club.

 On a final note we would like to extend a big thanks to Adrian Ricciardello and Andrew Browne for the effort and commitment they have dedicated to coaching our Colts and Futures programs respectively in the past few years. There is no doubt they are passionate coaches who were very focussed on developing future league players for the club.

 Adrian will be moving up into a role in the senior program in 2023, whilst we are also hopeful of engaging Andrew in a position within the talent program.
