Sharks 2nd Semi Team Announced

Friday, September 16, 2022 - 10:57 AM

The Sharks travel to Pentanet Stadium, Joondalup this weekend in another big final clash, this time against West Perth.

The Falcons, who had a week off after finishing first on the WAFL ladder, have been waiting to kick off their finals campaign.

East Fremantle head into this clash full of confidence after beating Claremont comfortably at New Choice Homes Park last weekend by 48 points.

The last time the two sides played was in Round 16 in Joondalup where the home side were victors by 36 points.

The Sharks and Falcons have split the ledger this year and League Coach Bill Monaghan said that this weekend’s game will be a tough contest.  “West Perth is a very good side. They finished on top of the ladder.  But we are also a very good side.  We both have great midfields and very dangerous forward lines,” said Monaghan. “We lost the last time we played but we have no fears going to Joondalup. We welcome the challenge.”

The Sharks carry immense confidence heading into the finals after securing their first finals win in almost a decade last weekend. “We performed well against Claremont”, said Monaghan. “Both collectively and individually. Most of our guys will be happy with the first finals hit out. It will be a challenge this week against a well-rested team, but everyone trained well during the week”.

East Fremantle head into this game with the same side that played Claremont last week with Monaghan saying it is tough to change a winning side.

“Everyone played their role, and it is tough for those who aren’t playing. Everyone has done really well over the last couple of weeks. Especially the guys who are our emergencies”.

“It’s tough for those guys that miss out for a number of reasons", said Monaghan about the players on the fringe of selection in the finals. “One is that they have to deal with disappointment of not being picked and two it's hard after the game when everyone is celebrating, and they are running out on the track.  We need to, as a club and playing group, show these guys support because they are all really important and pivotal to our success”.

League Bounce down is 2.10pm at Pentanet Stadium in Joondalup. The game will be broadcast through the AFL App or AFL.com.au.
