Round 20 Teams Are In! Check out pre game with Taylor Cowper

Friday, September 2, 2022 - 2:49 PM

East Fremantle take on East Perth in the final round of the home and away season at Leederville Oval this Saturday.

A win on Saturday secures a top 2 finish for the Sharks and a home qualifying final that will be played at New Choice Homes Park.

East Perth currently sit 6th on the WAFL ladder winning just six games in the season to date.   The last time these two sides played was back in April at Northampton, where the Sharks won by 10 points.

League Coach Bill Monaghan said “East Perth are not a side to be underestimated. East Perth were good against South Fremantle last weekend and shouldn’t be taken lightly. They play very good footy, especially at Leederville and we need to bring our best”.

The Sharks had an impressive win against Claremont last weekend and the outcome of this game against the Royals is paramount is setting the side up for the finals campaign.

“It’s a really important game”, said Monaghan. “We can finish anywhere from first to fourth on the ladder. The players are really focused, and we are all heading into this game with the right attitude”.

Cam Eardley is out for this game with Alex Montauban back into the side. “Alex brings pressure in the forward line that is elite”, said Monaghan. “He is not a huge goal kicker, but he has been missed”.

“We have earnt the right to play finals footy. We have worked hard, but it is crucial we play well this weekend and get the job done. Next week this game will mean nothing, and a new season will start.  Finals is a totally new game that we welcome and are excited about”.

“We have goals and aspirations, but we spend time on what’s in front of us and this week that’s East Perth.  The players are excited, and we know members and fans are excited but we have a job to get done”.
