Round 19 Colts Wrap
After a slow start conceding 5 goals against Claremont, it was going to take a big effort to find our way back into the game.
Claremont outplayed us early winning in all the important stats department. With this dominance it allowed them to open up a handy lead going into the first break.
To our credit we improved in all areas in the second quarter, and we managed to limit the scoreboard damage and break even across the ground.
The third quarter proved to be our most productive for the day as we started to gain some ascendency across the oval. This reflected on the scoreboard for us as we kicked 2 goals 4 behinds for the quarter whilst holding Claremont to just 5 behinds.
Going into the last quarter 21 points down it was important to kick an early goal or two. Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be and Claremont ran out the game much better than us to record a convincing win.
In one of our youngest teams to play this season it was fantastic to see the character of the boys in the way they responded after the first quarter.
Some good performers over the four quarters were Ben Praxl with 16 disposals and a goal , James Spadanuda with 22 possessions including 10 contested and 7 tackles, Kaleb Smith also provided some strong run of half back throughout to finish with 25 disposals.
Congratulations to our two colts’ debutants Taj Forrest (Canning Vale JFC) and Bailey Morgan (Bullcreek-Leeming JFC) .
