Rd 15 Reserves Wrap Up
The East Fremantle Reserves returned to the winners circle with a crucial 31 point victory over Perth at the WACA on Saturday. The win lifts the side to one game and percentage out of the finals. The Sharks are locked in a 4 way battle to secure the final spot in the 5.
In a tight opening quarter, the Sharks kicked the only goal to hold a 7 point at the first break. A big second quarter saw the young Sharks kick 4 goals to 2 and open up a handy 19 point lead at the major break. It was goal for goal in the third until a late Ethan Paholski effort saw East Fremantle open up a game high 26 point going into the last. The first goal in the last was always going to be important and it was the Sharks who iced the game after a Kobe McMillan goal after a searching lead. Every time Perth foaled in the last, East Fremantle responded and saw out the game to win by 31.
In an even team performance, better players for the Sharks were Jye Depane, who collected 27 disposals, a goal, 10 clearances and 4 tackles to be the sides best. Other solid contributors include Jack Cleaver, who returned from State 18s to make his Reserves debut and had 21 disposals, 7 marks and 3 spoils in marshalling the defence, Sam Emery, who continued his recent good form with 13 disposals, 5 score involvement and a goal and Kyle White, who had an absorbing battle against Ajang Ajang, having 25 hitouts, 7 disposals and 8 tackles.
The Sharks next take on 2nd place West Perth at Pentanet Stadium next Saturday.
