Rd 15 - Match Preview with Taylor Cowper
East Fremantle will look to bounce back into the winner’s book against Perth this Saturday at the WACA ground.
East Fremantle are coming off a tough loss to South Fremantle last Saturday and will be looking to respond against the Demons.
The Sharks currently sit 2nd on the WAFL ladder and head into the game favourites against the Demons who have only won two games in season 2022.
League Coach Bill Monaghan said even though Perth haven’t won many games this year they are not to be underestimated. “They are hard to get a read on. They have had many players miss games through injury and Covid. They are a side that competes really hard and they do move the ball well. They have a basis of a competitive side and the ladder position doesn't mean anything if we can’t follow it up on Saturday afternoon”.
Playing out a four quarter game is going to be a real focus this week for the Sharks with Monaghan saying last week’s loss to South Fremantle came after a poor start. “We were disappointed with our performance early against the Bulldogs. We took a lot of positives from the third quarter but we need to be consistent for the whole game. We get an opportunity to be better this weekend”.
East Fremantle will be without Eddie Simpson. Jamie Meade, Alex Montauban and Max Murphy who are all out due to injury.
They welcome into the side Debutant, Jed Hagan. Hagan, who has just finished a fantastic run in the under 18’s National Carnival is an exciting inclusion into the side. “Jed has played Colts since he was 15 and had a great 18s carnival. He will play forward and will go through the middle a bit. He is a 17 year old and he comes in off some great form. We just expect him to play his role and compete really hard and if he can do that, his talent will come to the fore”.
The Sharks have also included Enrique Aiken-Featherstone, Matt Williamson and Blaine Boekhorst to the side.
League Bounce down is at 2.10pm at the WACA Ground. You can watch the game live through the AFL App or afl.com.au
