Rd 14 Reserves Wrap Up
The East Fremantle Reserves went down by 11 points in a lightning affected clash against South Fremantle at the WACA on Saturday.
The 2nd half was reduced by 20 minutes after lightning strikes saw half time extended by 20 minutes. In wet and wintery conditions, the fast finishing Sharks ran out of time after falling 24 points behind at 3/4 time.
Better players on the day were Enrique Aiken-Featherstone, who revelled in the conditions and collected 23 disposals, 8 clearances, 11 tackles and kicked a goal to be the Sharks best. He was well supported by Matthew Burton (25 disposals) and Matthew Williamson (20 disposals) through the midfield.
Keanu Haddow defended stoutly against Bernie Naylor medallist, Mason Shaw, despite giving up considerable size. Shaw kicked the opening goal of the game but was kept under wraps by the close checking Haddow. Kyle White also played well, the big ruckman having 32 hitouts and 11 tackles. Despite more inside 50s, the Sharks struggled to find a reliable avenue to goals, with leading goal kicker, Jack Norrish missing through injury.
The Sharks next take on Perth at the WACA this Saturday in a crunch game in the race for 5th spot on the ladder. Both teams sit 1 game and percentage out of the finals with 5 games remaining.
