Rd 12 Reserves Wrap Up
The East Fremantle Reserves crashed to a disappointing 45 point loss to Subiaco in wintery conditions at Leederville on Saturday. Having revived their season with a last start win against Peel, the Sharks were slow out of the blocks kicking with a strong breeze and trailed by 14 points at the first break. East Fremantle played their best football in the second quarter and manage to stay with Subiaco, kicking 3.1 to 3.3 to trail by 16 points at the major break. If they were any chance to stay in the game, a big third quarter was needed but Subiaco again outscored the Sharks into the breeze to lead by 20 points going into the last. The first goal was always going to be important and it was Subiaco, through Jack Borchet, who kicked it and effectively iced the game. Disappointingly, East Fremantle fell away and Subiaco pulled away to win comfortably.
Four quarter performers were hard to find but Enrique Aiken-Featherstone shut down a rampaging Lachlan Vanirsen after quarter time while managing to collect 26 disposals, 4 clearances and 9 tackles himself, Nic Barton continued his good late season form, running hard on his wing with 16 disposals and 4 inside 50s, Matt Williamson worked hard all day to collect 20 disposals, 3 clearances and a goal while Max Murphy, returning from injury, was the sides best down back with 14 disposals, 3 intercept marks and 5 spoils. The Reserves now have the weekend off before taking on South Fremantle in the Derby at the WACA in a fortnights time.
