Rd 12 - Match Preview with Taylor Cowper
East Fremantle plays away this weekend taking on reigning premiers Subiaco on Saturday afternoon for NAIDOC Round. The Sharks will wear player Reuben McGuire's NAIDOC designed jumper.
All WAFL teams come off a bye last weekend with the WAFLW Grand Finals taking place at Revo Fitness Stadium in Claremont.
The Sharks head into the clash coming off a win against in-form side Peel Thunder in an 11 point win at the WACA two weekends ago.
League Coach Bill Monaghan said this weekend’s game could set the Sharks up for the rest of the season. “Subiaco’s season is on the line and they need a win. It’s a really important game for them but also for us. We have put ourselves in a great position, we sit second on the ladder and will hopefully play finals footy”.
The Sharks, who are sitting second on the WAFL ladder want to continue the good form after the League bye. “The bye came at a great time”, said Monaghan. “There was a bit of time to refresh and the boys have trained really well over the break. We are looking forward to coming out of the gates firing”.
Josh Schoenfeld hasn’t played since early last year and is a welcome inclusion to the side. “Josh comes back after a long break. Played well in the reserves the other week where he kicked a couple of goals. He is a quality player and we are excited to have him back”.
Kyle Baskerville also comes into the side and adds some much needed depth to the Sharks Midfield. “Our run and our carry has been great this year and having Kyle back in the side helps that. We need to win the ball on the inside and these two inclusions help that”.
New recruit Eddie Simpson is named as an emergency.
