Rd 10 League - The Left Bank Wrap Up with Taylor Cowper
East Fremantle secured a hard fought victory on the weekend against an in form Peel Thunder.
The Sharks won in style also celebrating Captain Matthew Jupps 150th after defeating fellow top five side Peel Thunder at the WACA Ground on Saturday afternoon.
They were down by 10 points in the final term but overcame six lead changes to prevail 12.16 (88) to 12.5 (77).
The milestone man in Jupp played a pivotal role on Fremantle Docker Sebit Kuek, keeping the forward to one goal. Blaine Bokehorst continued his outstanding form in season 2022 culminating in best on ground performance on Saturday.
The midfielder finished with a game-high 40 possessions, 10 tackles, eight inside 50s and seven marks to go with his match-winning strike on the run to give himself and close mate Jupp winning milestones.
Running machine Milan Murdock continued his career best season, while ex-AFL pair Cameron Eardley, Jarrad Jansen and half-back Ryan Lester-Smith were also prominent and had a big say in the second half for the Sharks.
League Coach Bill Monaghan said he was happy the club got over the line for Matthew Jupp. “He was really keen to get the win and part of being a good leader and he’s very good at it, is putting the team first before yourself.”
The competition is extremely close in the WAFL competition this year and Monaghan said every game is important. “The competition is really tight with Claremont and South going down to East Perth and West Coast on Saturday and that helped us a little bit as well.”
