Rd 6 League - The Left Bank Wrap Up with Taylor Cowper
East Fremantle continued their positive start to season 2022 with a 44 point victory over reigning premiers Subiaco on Saturday.
The victory secures the Sharks top of the WAFL ladder position with the club looking to reach their first final appearance since 2014.
It was the first WAFL game at the WACA in more than 28 years and will be the Sharks makeshift home for at least 2 WAFL seasons. The Sharks first victory at the iconic cricket venue helps the Sharks strong start to the season continue.
Jonathon Marsh was fantastic up front kicking a game high five goals for East Fremantle on his return from state duties and Covid protocols.
Kyle Baskerville was a late out in the game but the rest of the side stood up. Blaine Boekhorst, Jarrad Jansen and Milan Murdock made up for their leading ball winner’s absence, combining for 90 disposals.
Boekhorst was the best of the bunch for the Sharks collecting 37 disposals and an impressive 7 inside 50s.
The first quarter was low scoring but Marsh opened the account for the home side scoring four goals up to half time.
The Sharks were very strong down back with Captain Matthew Jupp and Jamie Meade keeping the Subiaco forwards to just 6 goals.
Cody Leggett was another multiple goal-kicker for the Sharks, finishing with four.
East Fremantle takes on South Fremantle in the WA Day Derby Saturday the 6th of June at Fremantle Community Bank Oval.
