Rd 5 Reserves Wrap Up
East Fremantle went down narrowly by 8 points against reigning Reserves Premiers, Perth on Saturday.
In the end, one bad quarter and poor conversion in front of goal (6.13) cost the Sharks from their 3rd win of the season and a spot in the top 5. After a tough and scrappy opening half in which only 4 goals were kicked between both sides, Perth exploded in the 3rd quarter, booting 6 goals to 2 to open up a handy 23 point lead. The Sharks responded in the last to dominate field position but were unable to take advantage, kicking a wasteful 2.4 to 0.1, gifting Perth the win.
Better players for the Sharks across the whole game were sparse, but Ethan Paholski continued his recent good form in the midfield, gathering 25 disposals, 8 clearances and 5 inside 50s to be his sides best.
Other solid performers included Sam Medland, who had 17 disposals , 7 tackles and kicked 2.3 and Jack Norrish, who provided a vocal point up forward without getting much reward. Jackson McManus was also serviceable in his first Reserves game for the club.
The Sharks will be looking to bounce back this week against Subiaco at the WACA.
