Rd 5 League - The Left Bank Wrap Up with Taylor Cowper
East Fremantle continued their positive start to the 2022 season with a 26 point victory over Perth at Mineral Resources Park on Saturday.
The Sharks kicked four goals in the last quarter to secure the victory and set the side up for a massive game at the WACA on Saturday the 28th of May.
Milan Murdock was superb for East Fremantle collecting 32 possessions, kicking 2 goals and laying 5 tackles to help his side to their fourth straight victory of the season.
Cam Eardley came back in to the side after state duties and picked up right where he left off. Rebounding off half back he finished the game with 28 disposals.
Alex Montauban proved handy up forward in the absence of leading goal kickers Jonathon Marsh and Dillon O’Reilly, scoring three goals in the win.
The Sharks were wasteful in front of goals, kicking a wayward 13.20 to leave Perth in the game for most of the game. After building a 25 point lead in the 3rd quarter, Perth responded and a goal after the siren saw them reduce the margin to 7 points going into the last.
East Fremantle finally took advantage of their midfield domination in the last to comfortably win the game and remain equal 1st on the ladder with West Perth and Claremont.
The win was the Sharks 4th on the trot, the first time they’ve won 4 in a row in the Monaghan era, and the first time since 2016.
East Fremantle take on reigning Premiers Subiaco next Saturday the 28th of May at the WACA.
