ROUND 13 - ROGERS CUP AND WAFLW WRAP-UP WITH DAISY BROWN
East Fremantle’s first win of the day came from a clash between the Rogers Cup team and the reigning premiers West Perth. West Perth struck early with the first goal of the match, with the first quarter being an arm wrestle between two quality sides.
East Fremantle’s stingy defence held West Perth to just one more goal for the remainder of the game, with East Fremantle’s forwards kicking five of their own to run out 5.6 – 36 to 2.4 – 16 victors. Madison Evans was strong in the ruck for the Sharks, whilst Maya Louvel-Finn was solid down back. Taya Chambers and Natasha Entwistle were strong in the contest, and Alessia Schmiedgen’s forward pressure saw her get on the end of a goal.
East Fremantle’s WAFLW side continued their undefeated run in season 2022 with a dominant display against West Perth, running out 14.9 – 93 to 0.2 – 2 victors. East Fremantle were instrumental from the word go, kicking 4 goals in the first quarter. From then on, East Fremantle controlled the flow of the game, with their strong defence conceding just two behinds for the game.
Ash Atkins was best-on-ground for the Sharks with a dominant 26 touches, 11 marks, 7 tackles and 3 goals. Julia Teakle and Larissa Versaci also kicked three of their own, whilst Sharon Wong chimed in with an impressive 28 disposals. Young guns Amber Kinnane and Zipporah Fish also collected plenty of the footy, each have 25 touches.
East Fremantle’s defenders proved their versatility throughout the game, with back-liners Torrie Revell, Alli Nokes, Paisley Prentice and Hayley O’Donnell each kicking a goal throughout the game.
Both the Rogers Cup and WAFLW teams finish Round 13 on top of the ladder ahead of the Rogers Cup clash against East Perth and the WAFLW team’s bye.
