TEAM LISTS + ROUND 2 League Preview with Taylor Cowper
ROUND 2 LEAGUE PRE GAME WITH TAYLOR COWPER
East Fremantle will be looking to bounce back this weekend when they clash with Swan Districts at Blue Steel Oval this Saturday. Round one saw the Sharks lose by 32 points after a last quarter fade out against Peel Thunder.
The Swans will be looking for their first win of season 2022 as well after a loss to East Perth last weekend. League Coach Bill Monaghan said, "We played three very good quarters of footy last week and one very poor one and we will be working to rectify that".
Jeremy Goddard will make his debut for East Fremantle after joining the Sharks from Claremont in the off-season. The 203cm ruckman spent last year in the VFL. Monaghan said, "Jeremy is a terrific tap ruckman. He was fantastic in the Reserves last week and we will be looking for him to work hard around the field, taking some marks up forward and working in tandem with Brynn Teakle".
Tom Monaghan will return up front for the Sharks after 4 goals last weekend in the Reserves. "Tom played really well in the Reserves last week. His pressure was great and it will be good to add another fast, defensive forward to the side", said Monaghan.
Jarrad Jansen, who missed round one through suspension will also line up against the Swans. "Jarrad is one of our more experienced players and we are really looking forward to having his size and ability back around the contest. A few players grow a couple of inches when he is out there with them".
Out of the team go Lachlan Bailey, Cody Smith and Durak Tucker missing due to COVID protocols.
East Fremantle also have added confidence this week with Brynn Teakle, Cam Eardley, Matthew Jupp and Jonathon Marsh being announced as inclusions in the State squad.
Sharks Captain Matthew Jupp said that being named in the State squad was a massive reward for effort for him personally. "It's great to be acknowledged", said Jupp. "I have put a lot of hard work into my WAFL career and things have really clicked for me as a footballer in the last 3 or 4 years. I feel like I have put together some really solid seasons personally and it is a good reward for some consistent footy over a number of years".
League Bouncedown is 2pm Saturday the 23rd at Blue Steel Oval against Swan Districts, with official ANZAC ceremony at 1.30 pm.
