TEAMS ARE IN FOR ROUND 1 - PRE GAME WITH TAYLOR COWPER
ROUND 1 TEAMS ARE IN - PRE GAME REPORT FROM TAYLOR COWPER
The regular season account will finally open for East Fremantle tomorrow, Good Friday as the Sharks take on Peel Thunder at Lane Group Stadium. East Fremantle supporters will be hoping for a great start to the season with the Sharks looking to extend a three game winning streak.
Both teams come off tremendous offseason form with both sides undefeated in the preseason competition. The Sharks were successful against West Perth in Joondalup in the second of two preseason games and thumped East Perth by 67 points in the first hit out for the club in 2022. Cody Leggett showed promise up forward, bagging 4 goals against the Royals filling the gap of preseason loss Hugh Dixon, whose AFL dream was reignited with a call up to the West Coast Eagles.
League Coach Bill Monaghan is excited for the 2022 season after a successful preseason, "The players are ready to go and selection this week was difficult. We are really happy with how the boys have trained over the preseason ".
Milan Murdock returns to the team for the first time since Round 4 last year after a season ending injury against Perth in Round 4. "He is one of our hardest workers and has had an outstanding preseason. He will be a bit slow to start but is right to go and we are looking forward to having him in the side ", said Monaghan.
In some exciting news for Sharks fans Kardinya favourite Chris Walker, twin brother of Fremantle Docker Brandon Walker, will make his League Debut. Monaghan is excited to see him play his first game for the Sharks. "Chris is really raw. Great athletic traits and runs exceptionally quick. He is new to the system and will make mistakes but we are excited to have him out there and we are really looking forward to him playing league footy."
Vice Captain Jarrad Jansen is unavailable for selection as he serves a 1 match ban.
League Bouncedown is at 4.10pm on Friday at Lane Group Stadium in Mandurah.
