CONGRATULATIONS HUGH DIXON, LUKE STRNADICA & TOM JOYCE
CONGRATULATIONS HUGH DIXON, LUKE STRNADICA & TOM JOYCE
On behalf of the East Fremantle Football Club Board & Staff, we would like to pass on our heartfelt congratulations to Hugh Dixon, Luke Strnadica & Tom Joyce for their excellent hard work and dedication to gain access back onto an AFL list back in Perth at the West Coast Eagles.
We are delighted that we have been the vehicle that has got them back on to the AFL List, and recognise our own Football Dept for providing the right environment to rebuild from the disappointment of being delisted and returning to the highest League in Australia.
The Club wishes Hugh, Luke & Tom all the very best for the future.
The Club has always been the WA leader in producing the best talent for the AFL, with over 120 players now drafted to the AFL since the AFL inception in 1987.
Over the last 3 years, we have seen 11 players drafted from our Colts system, with 2 of them (Luke Jackson & Trent Rivers ) becoming AFL Premiership players at 20 years of age.
As a WAFL Club we are delighted to be the vehicle that gets our young men & women to the highest level, but we don’t agree with the timing and the compensation package that is offered to WAFL Clubs.
We believe the November Draft is when these players should be taken, and the compensation package needs to be a lot higher than what is offered at the moment.
We will continue to work through these issues with the WAFC & the AFL to get a better system than the one that operates today.
To our members, we acknowledge that 24 years is a long time without a Premiership, and it is heart breaking to see our best ruckman, best forward & best recruit taken just as we are about to start the season.
However we do believe our senior playing list is starting to build quite nicely, and we have some exciting young players who are keen to be part of finals in 2022.
Our Women’s League side have started the season well with 2 wins, and next week we will launch our Men’s season at the WACA on Thursday 17th March.
So get behind the Club and support the players in 2022.
