East Fremantle 2021 AFL NAB Rising Stars continue to shine
East Fremantle 2021 AFL NAB Rising Stars continue to shine
This week Jeremy Sharp was named the Round 18 AFL Rising Star for his 30 disposal, 10 mark performance against the Western Bulldogs on Sunday. Sharp, who made his East Fremantle League debut in 2019, marks the 4th East Fremantle youngster to get a nomination in season 2021. Sharp has had to hone his game over his first 2 seasons at Gold Coast but is now showing his strong gut running ability on the wing in an improving Gold Coast outfit.
In Round 3 Sydney Swan Chad Warner, whose younger brother Corey made his East Fremantle League debut against Peel, received a nomination for a 20 disposal, 2 goal game against reigning premiers, Richmond at the MCG. The tenacious onballer is currently out of the side injured but will be looking to return in time for finals.
In Round 7, Melbournes’ Luke Jackson became the 2nd Shark nominated for the year with an impressive 22 disposals, 7 hitout and a goal display against North Melbourne. An exceptional basketballer, who played for Australia, Jackson was the 3rd pick in the 2019 AFL draft. Jackson has been an integral part of the Melbourne forward line in 2021 and will play a pivotal role in the Dees push for a premiership.
In Round 11, Trent Rivers, Melbourne team mate of Luke Jackson, was nominated for a polished display off half back against the Western Bulldogs. The top of the table clash saw Rivers collect 19 disposals, 10 contested possessions and 3 marks in the Demons 28 point victory. Rivers has now played 26 games across his 2 seasons at Melbourne, impressing in a strong Melbourne defensive unit.
East Fremantle has had a proud history of producing AFL talent and has provided 3 previous winners to the Rising Star in in the awards 28 year history. Will a Jeremy Sharp, Luke Jackson, Trent Rivers or Chad Warner join the likes of Ben Cousins, Rhys Palmer and Paul Hasleby in taking out the AFL Rising Star when the winner is announced in September?
On behalf of the East Fremantle Football Club w would like to congratulate all 4 East Fremantle AFL Rising Stars this year for being acknowledged with this award.
To have 4 EFFC products out of 18 rounds of AFL Football is an oustanding achievement, and the EFFC Junior Clubs and Coaches who helped produce the likes of Chad, Luke, Travis and Jeremy should feel very pleased with their invovlement in the careers thus far.
