Round 15 | Match Preview
East Fremantle will travel to Joondalup for Round 15 of the WAFL Premiership Season to take on a red-hot West Perth side.
The Sharks, having lost their early season form, are now three games out of the top five and are looking to return to the winner list and return to finals contention
The Falcons have won four on the trot and head into Saturdays match unchanged for the fifth consecutive week.
Following last week’s disappointing loss to Peel, the Sharks welcome back Jonathon Marsh (Jaw), Jamie Meade and Finn Gorringe to the side while Harry Taylor and Cody Smith will miss the fixture.
Corey Holmes, Jordan Snadden and Tom Wallis are also included in the extended interchange. Wallis, who could potentially make his league debut, hails from Attadale Junior Football Club and has been in good form in the reserves.
In the corresponding fixture last season, the Sharks lead at every break before West Perth kicked 2.4 to 1.0 in the final term to complete a stunning 8.11 (59) to 8.7 (55) victory. The Sharks did lead by 30 points in the third quarter and will be hoping to replicate the first half they produced on that day.
The Reserves are just two games outside the top 5 with a game in hand. Having only won one of their previous five fixtures, the Sharks will be looking to narrow the gap between themselves and the top 5 with victory over the Falcons.
The Reserves are the lowest scoring team in the competition and will be looking for key forwards Bonomelli and Ah Chee to impact the scoreboard to return to the winners list.
The Colts, who are in fourth position, have a game in hand over the rest of the competition and will take on the seventh placed Falcons. A win for the Sharks will keep them in contention for the minor premiership with Claremont (3rd), Swans (1st) and South Fremantle (5th) also to come over the next month.
Last time we met:
East Fremantle 8.7 (55) def by West Perth 8.11 (59)
The Sharks started the match well and at one point led by 32 points. It was not to be, as the Falcons won by four points. Cameron Eardley starred with 28-disposals and seven marks while Tim Bockman (2 goals) and Jonathon Griffin (42 hit outs) also had good games.
Colts - 9:10 | Reserves – 11:40 | League - 2:10
