WAFC Statement COVID 19
WAFC Statement: COVID-19 Update
Following today’s announcement by the WA State Government regarding post lockdown restrictions within the Perth and Peel regions from 12.01am, Saturday July 3, the West Australian Football Commission has issued an update to all participants and clubs.
As football recommences across the state, clubs, participants and spectators are reminded of the requirement to follow the WA State Government restrictions currently in place.
WAFL & WAFLW
All WAFL & WAFLW clubs can resume training sessions as of 12.01am Saturday, July 3, with spectators unable to attend.
Clubs must abide by the 4 square metre rule and indoor gatherings must be restricted to 20 people. There must be no spectators, including parents, families and friends, at training sessions.
As per WA State Government restrictions, masks will be mandatory both indoors and outdoors until 12.01am Tuesday, July 6. Players and club staff must wear masks indoors, including changerooms.
Players do not need to wear masks whilst actively engaged in ‘vigorous’ outdoor football training sessions – but will need to wear a mask both before and after training.
The 4 square metre rule continues to apply inside indoor facilities, including clubhouses, changerooms and gyms. Masks are mandatory inside gyms and can only have a 20-person limit.
Given transitional restrictions that will come into place from 12.01am Tuesday, July 6, Round 14 of the WAFL and the WAFLW Grand Final are anticipated to proceed next weekend (July 10 & 11), however the WAFC will be guided by any further directions and health advice from the WA State Government.
A decision on spectator attendance and final details around all matches will be announced in due course.
Junior Football
All matches across Metro Junior Competitions over the next two weekends (July 3/4 & July 10/11) are scheduled bye rounds.
All Metro Junior Competitions can resume training sessions as of 12.01am Saturday, July 3, with spectators unable to attend.
Clubs must abide by the 4 square metre rule and indoor gatherings must be restricted to 20 people. There must be no spectators, including parents, families and friends, at any scratch matches or training sessions.
Masks are mandatory indoors for anyone over the age of 12 (including in changerooms and clubrooms) and must be worn outside when not engaging in vigorous activity.
Coaches must wear masks both indoors and outdoors at training sessions.
Given an easing of restrictions is scheduled for Monday July 12, all matches are anticipated to proceed as normal from this date, subject to any further directions and health advice from the WA State Government.
Senior Community & Regional Football

All Country competitions outside of the Perth and Peel region can proceed as normal.
The WA Country Football League has made the decision to not allow travelling players or coaches from the Perth & Peel region to play or train before 12.01am Tuesday, July 6, due to WA State Government restrictions.
We continue to encourage all WA Football stakeholders to download and use the SafeWA app.
Nothing is more important than the health and well-being of our football participants and the wider community that we are all a part of, and this will remain at the forefront of all decision making.
