Round 3 Match Report
The East Fremantle Football Club have returned to the winners list for season 2021, defeating East Perth by 25 points in front of a strong home crowd.
The 13.10 (88) to 9.9 (63) win means that East Fremantle finish the week in 4th position on the Optus WAFL premiership ladder with a healthy percentage of 110.7.
The Sharks were dominant throughout the first three quarters of the match, leading by 59 points at three quarter-time before five consecutive goals from the Royals trimmed the final margin.
Kyle Baskerville was fantastic throughout the match and finished with a game-high 28 disposals and seven marks while Josh Schoenfeld continued his great form with 24 disposals and five tackles.
Milan Murdock (27), Cam Eardley (26) and Luke English (25) all found plenty of the ball throughout the win, with the trio combining for an impressive 78 disposals, 26 marks and eight tackles.
Cody Leggett was once again named in the best players, with the second-year Shark recording 24 disposals and six marks.
2020 Lynn Medallist Jarrad Jansen was impressive as he had a game high 6 tackles while Captain Matthew Jupp was impressive in defence as the Sharks backline kept East Perth to just four goals at three quarter time.
Jonathon Marsh and Tim Bockman both kicked two goals for the match as did High Dixon, who was adjudged best player on the ground for his 15 disposal and ten mark game.
Round 4 of the WAFL premiership season sees the Sharks take on West Perth at Provident Financial Oval. Bill Monaghan’s side will be looking to put in a four quarter effort against the home side who are sitting in 6th position on the ladder with a 1-2 win loss record.
