A Message from the President
Dear Valued Members, Sponsors and Stakeholders,
We have made it to the end of 2020! It certainly wasn’t the year we had anticipated but thanks to your support, the club is in a strong position for next season.
As you would know, the football landscape (and world) was looking bleak as Covid-19 struck. With no games and no income, the Board made the strategic decision to launch a GoFundMe page. We knew our Sharks Community were amazing, but we were still blown away! Despite what everyone was going through, the goal of $100,000 was reached in just five weeks – a might achievement.
The introduction of the Federal Government’s Job Keeper meant we were able to retain our staff and BAS subsides alleviated financial pressure. As a result, the club has boasted a fantastic financial result for the year; $250,748 surplus.
I would like to say a special thanks to our fantastic commercial partners, who despite trying to navigate this incredibly tough year, remained committed to the Sharks. To our members, please support these businesses where and when you can (our sponsors can be found here).
During last week’s AGM, we were delighted to welcome Steve Nugent and Graeme Carter to our great list of life members. Two thoroughly deserving and dedicated Sharks, congratulations to you both. We were also excited to release the first design concepts of the East Fremantle Oval Precinct redevelopment. Vice President John Ipsen and CEO Todd Shimmon have worked incredibly hard with the Town of East Fremantle to get the project underway. Keep an eye on our website for regular updates in 2021.
On field, our results were not good enough. However, we believe Bill Monaghan and Brad Dodd are building the squad that will bring success back to this proud club. Our recruits: Dillon O’Reilly, Josh Schoenfeld, Hugh Dixon, Luke English and Corey Chalmers have hit the ground running and are already settled in.
We are entering a very exciting time for the East Fremantle Football Club. Join us in season 2021 by purchasing a membership, it is one of the best ways you can support the club and be part of our resurgence.
Congratulations on making it through this year and thank you, sincerely for the support you have given the Sharks along the way.
On behalf of the Board, I would like to wish you a Very Merry Christmas and a Safe New Year.
See you at New Choice Homes Park in 2021!
Mark Stewart
President
