Round 1 Derby Showdown
East Fremantle’s 2020 Optus WAFL Season kicks off this weekend against port rivals South Fremantle.
Brodie Riach, Cody Leggett and Jordan Mills will play their first official game for the Sharks on Saturday at Fremantle Community Bank Oval.
Riach, a former Category B Rookie, is a very good endurance athlete with an ability to play all over the ground.
New acquisition, Cody Leggett will add much needed experience to the group. Playing across half back, Leggett will provide drive where his kicking ability will be an asset.
The experience of key defender Jordan Mills will be crucial against a dominant South Fremantle forward line.
While the Bulldogs have prevailed in recent encounters, the Sharks are desperate to turn the tables on their arch-rival. Having led for three quarters in the WA Day Derby last year, East Fremantle will look to go one step further against last year’s grand finalists.
Reigning Lynn Medallist, Matthew Jupp will look to continue his dominant 2019 form despite an interrupted pre-season with injury.
Jordan Snadden returns for his first game in the blue and white after a year on the side lines through injury in 2019.
The Reserves will be aiming to pick up from their late 2019 form that saw them feature in the preliminary finals, looking to go one step further this year.
Having shown positive signs in their pre-season hitouts, the Colts will look to make a strong start to the year under new coach Adrian Ricciardello.
