Round 19 Preview | Perth
East Fremantle head to Mineral Resources Park to take on the Perth Demons on Saturday from 2.15pm.
Though East Fremantle can no longer make the Finals, they can certainly impact the shape of them, with their next 2 opponents, Perth and West Coast, desperate for 4 points.
The Sharks will head into the game with some confidence after a stirring 8-point win over East Perth last round. Despite being hampered by injury, the young Sharks fought back after being headed in the last term. Nick Kommer and Zach Jackson have been ruled out for the season after sustaining injuries against the Royals. Jack Perham, having announced his retirement, also misses the Perth game.
Into the side comes youngster Cam Davidson, for his first League appearance for the season. Cam has had a solid year in the Reserves and has been rewarded for his recent good form. A member of the 2018 WAFL Colts Team of the Year, Cam is an attacking Half Back who reads the play well and impacts in the air. Joining him in the side is Harry Creasey. Harry has been in excellent form but hasn’t been able to dislodge the steady Back 7 in the Seniors.
Also, into the squad on the extended interchange bench comes Sean Fletcher, Max Murphy, Brynn Teakle, Jesse Adamini and Corey Holmes.
In a crunch game for the Reserves, a win will see the Sharks play Finals football. After a strong performance last week against East Perth, the group should be confident heading into the match. Perth were big winners last time the teams met, running out 66-point victors. The Sharks will once again look to Nic Watson, Matt Burton, Josh Cuneo and James Harrold to guide them through. Bouncedown is from 11.30am.
Our Colts round out their season against Perth in the early game. The boys have won their past 4 clashes to be the ‘form’ team in the competition. Despite finishing just outside the finals, the likes of Trent Rivers, Luke Jackson, Jai Jackson, Chad Warner and Reuben McGuire have all been in good form and will be keen to impress. The Colts kick the day off at 9.00am.
