Round 5 Match Report
West Perth have narrowly defeated East Fremantle in what was see-saw affair at New Choice Homes Park on Saturday, winning 13.9 (87) to 9.7 (61).
East Fremantle led for the majority of the match, but West Perth ran away with the game late, kicking the final three goals to win by 26 points.
The Sharks dominated the third term but were unable to capitalise on their hard work, kicking 2.5 to 3 goals straight which may have cost them the game.
Cameron Loersch had arguably his best game in the blue hoops, kicking three goals from his 14 disposals while Nicholas Bonomelli was impressive on debut kicking two goals.
Luke Strnadica dominated in the ruck with a mammoth 50 hit outs and a goal while Morgan Davies and Milan Murdock combined for 46 disposals and 10 tackles.
Matthew Jupp was impressive once again, leading from the front and being named amongst the best players on the ground for his performance in defence.
Round 6 of the WAFL premiership season sees the Sharks take on Swan Districts in two weeks’ time. The game is being played at Blue Steel Oval, with Bill Monaghan’s side looking to repeat the effort and intensity shown in the first three quarters against West Perth to register their first win of the 2019 season.
