Thrifty Match Day | East vs South
The Sharks host rivals South Fremantle on Saturday as part of Thrifty Match Day.
It’s been a tough year for East Fremantle, but they’ll be putting everything on the line to get the win for Rob Wiley in his last game as head coach.
Into the 25 this week comes Tim Bockman, Jye Clements, Mick Cronan, Jarrad Jansen and Leon Pearton.
The Bulldogs have the upper hand when it comes to derbies in recent times, however the Sharks have beaten the odds before and will look to do so again.
The sides are playing for the Bob Uittenbroek (OAM) – Brian Ciccotosto Cup, in honour of two fine servants of both clubs. Bob was General Manager at East Fremantle for 32 years, is an East Fremantle Life Member, WAFC Life Member, WAFL Life Member and was awarded an Order of Australia for services to Australian Rules Football in 2013. Brian Ciccotosto was General Manager at South Fremantle for 27 years following a 211-game playing career which included a Simpson Medal in 1970 Premiership and is also a South Fremantle and WAFC Life Member.
The Development League will also be looking to finish the season on a high after a testing year. With injuries plaguing our seniors, it’s has been hard to get a regular team on the track.
The Colts will look to consolidate their position on the ladder, with a win over South Fremantle on Sunday at Domain Stadium.
For the second time this year, our young Sharks will be involved in a WAFC initiative which sees consecutive Colts games played on the same day. (More information here).
