Sharks Buoyed by Returns
A refreshed Sharks side will travel to HBF Arena this Saturday looking to knock off West Perth.
The State Bye came at a good time for East Fremantle, with several key players returning to the team this week.
Among those is Ryan Lester-Smith who is set to play his first league game in 11 months. Lester-Smith sustained an ACL injury during Round 13 last year. A determined and rigorous approach to his rehabilitation, has put Ryan ahead of his expected return date.
Before the bye, Lester-Smith made a seamless return to football through the Development League, finishing with 2 goals and 11 disposals. His ability to push forward or provide run and carry from the backline is a crucial inclusion for the Sharks this week.
Into the 25 comes Jonathon Griffin, Matthew Jupp and Cameron Eardley, who’s experience and on field leadership will be a welcome return to the young Sharks side. Harry Creasey, Sean Fletcher, Joel Kalajzic and Jack Perham have also been named in this week’s squad.
The depth of our Development League has been tested in recent weeks with injuries filtering down. However, with the return of the aforementioned players, the Sharks will look to rise up against a strong West Perth side.
The Colts welcome four new players into the squad this week; Dylan Curley, Jai Jackson, Michael Wright and Alec Evensen. Jackson and Wright have travelled down from Chapman Valley this weekend as they have the bye in the GNFL. Both have been in good form recently for the league team up there. Dillon O’Reilly and Trent Rivers come out of the team this week with State 18’s duties while Milan Murdock will also miss with PSA commitments. Others playing in the state games this weekend include Sharp, Ruscoe and Luke Jackson.
