East Fremantle 16s Round 2: Game Report
The 16s Development squad had their second fixture on Saturday against Claremont after the League game at East Fremantle Oval.
Our boys started off the game well with good ball movement and transition going forward. Lachlan McGrath was dominant in the ruck with followers Jeremy Sharp, Josh Harris-Walker and Charlie McCormack. This saw some excellent clearance work which resulted in shots on goal. Tom Wallis again worked hard and showed some promising signs with his work rate forward.
The second quarter our boys were tested with Claremont creating space for their midfield to run onto. Our defenders held up well but were caught out at times which resulted in Claremont hitting the score board. Our defence line of Luke Dobson, Ben Wardle and Jai Jackson were dangerous with the rebound and to tried and give the Sharks some momentum.
After the half time break it was a low scoring affair, with some missed opportunities by our boys in front of the big sticks. Luke Dobson lead the charge from Half Back which made our defenders work really well together. Sean Henley and Alex Crowe were very impressive with their run and carry to create.
The final quarter the boys showed glimpses of what they can produce when they put their best foot forward. Jeremy Sharp was outstanding from the midfield, with some run and carry and great clearance work from the centre bounces. Mid-West boys Darcy Rowe, Tom Denton and Jai Jackson were impressive with their contested ball and took some great marks. Unfortunately, our boys fell short in the end as Claremont ran out as victors.
