Sharks in the AFL: Luke Strnadica
After the announcement of being drafted as a rookie to Fremantle Football Club Luke Strnadica is one large step closer to the AFL dream.
The 19-year-old said it was unbelievable and despite the nerves he’s loved every minute of it.
“It’s pretty exciting, just to get drafted to a club was unbelievable, but to Fremantle even more so,” Strnadica said.
“All of the players have been pretty good, even when I got drafted I got about five calls from a few of them and they really welcomed me.”
Strnadica said it’s pretty nerve racking but he’s got all of the resources at the club that he needs to help him in the transition to the big league.
“The intensity at training and being in a professional environment everyday is probably the most challenging part but you get used to it pretty quickly.”
“I’ve been working with my development coach Brent Guerra who was a premiership player at Hawthorn so that’s been great.”
“I’ve also been working with the ruck coach Simon Eastaugh and forward coach David Hale and they’ve really helped my development.”
Not only has the gun forward and ruck player had help from the coaches, he’s also done some work with star ruckman Aaron Sandilands.
“Over the last year at East Fremantle before I even got drafted Sandilands helped me once a week with some ruck work and some forward stuff as well so he’s been great.”
“I think I’m heading in the right direction and I’m just going to put my head down and work really hard.”
