Ray Sorrell inducted into the AFL Hall of Fame

Tuesday, June 14, 2016 - 3:10 PM

It is with great pride that we announce that East Fremantle Hall of Famer Ray Sorrell, was inducted into the AFL Hall of Fame tonight.

Ray played 197 games in his career, 156 for EFFC, 23 for South Fremantle and 18 for WA, earning himself two Sandover Medals along with two Simpson Medals and two Lynn Medals.

Ray came to the East Fremantle Football Club from North Fremantle and it was obvious to all who watched his first League game that here was a champion in the making.

He was a speedy left-footer and a sure mark with the stamina to run all day. His skilful dodging and turning meant he was rarely caught in possession and his exceptionally long and accurate drop-kicks made his play a joy to watch.

Ray represented WA on 18 occasions earning himself two All Australian blazers, a Simpson Medal and the State Captaincy.

A brilliant career and a well deserved recognition at the highest level.
