Sharks look to exorcise Demons
The East Fremantle Sharks will take on Perth this week at ATOM Stadium, coming off an impressive 80-point win over the reigning undefeated premiers Subiaco.
After last week’s outstanding performance, the Sharks are keen to continue the winning streak against Perth who are also coming off a win.
Following a dominating four quarter effort, the Sharks are desperately keen to continue playing to the KPI’s of the coaching staff.
Racking up 35 possessions and seven tackles, last week’s captain Liam Anthony said it’s important to go into the game with the right attitude.
“It’s vitally important that we go into the game with the same manner and same attitude as we did against Subiaco, it’s a significant game and if we play with the same intensity as we did last week we can hopefully come away with the 4 points” Anthony said.
“The boys are confident but we know any team can get you.”
The Sharks are hoping to cement their position in the top 5 after the first round of fixtures.
Perth’s leading disposal winner Clint Jones will be one to watch, after an impressive 47 disposals against Swan Districts.
The side is set to be boosted following the return of captain Jamie McNamara, with no outs named at this stage.
Coming off three consecutive losses The Development Squad is keen to return to the winners circle this week against Perth. The second half of last week’s match against Subiaco, particularly the last quarter should give the boys some confidence, displaying the quality of football seen earlier in the season.
The team welcomes back Tyler Chalwell who returns from injury and Miles Franklin, who rolled his ankle late in the game against East Perth.
Securing a win against Perth will put them into the mix with a chance to make the top 5.
With players out due to State 18’s commitments and several injuries, The Colts have made a number of changes ahead of this week’s match against the undefeated ladder leaders.
Dillon O’Reilly and Connor Douglas will make their Colts debut this week, following strong performances in the 16’s squad.
The return of ruckman Jack McGrath, the versatile Liam Rajanayagam and Jayden Quill with a bye for Trinity in PSA are set to boost the side. The team also welcomes back the leadership of James Valentine who was rested last week, along with Leon Pearton.
