Sharks looking to bounce back against Royals
The Sharks play at the Royals at Medibank on Sunday afternoon, at the earlier than usual time of 12:10pm, with the match being shown live on Channel 7. The Colts will start the day off at 9:20am, with Development League playing in the last match of the day at 2:55pm.
East Fremantle will be looking to get back into the winners circle after consecutive losses to Claremont and South Fremantle. The Sharks currently sit in 6th place, with a 2-3 win/loss record, with East Perth 2 spots above on the ladder with 3 wins, though they are yet to have a bye. East Perth had a slow start to the season losing their first three matches, but they have won their last three against Perth, West Perth and Peel.
Coach Rob Wiley recognised the importance of the match. "We need to get back on the board and try and get 4 points," he said, "because as close as we went last week, we still missed the 4 points when we created opportunities. We will need to play well because over the last few weeks East Perth have really got their game together. It’s an important game."
The Sharks have named no outs as yet from derby side, however Rob will be waiting on the fitness test of a few players. “We still have a few players that are a bit sore so they need to pass fitness test Saturday morning, but we’re expecting a full strength side.”
"There are a number of players in the Development League who have been in consistently good form, including Julian Locantro, Josh Cuneo and Josef Hebiton who played a few League games last year and is starting to play well."
"Jacob Green’s form over the last few weeks has him pushing for selection, as well as Matthew Bannister. The good thing at the Club at the moment is that there’s good depth and there’s a fair bit of pressure on the League guys to play well."
With the League playing at 12:10pm, leading in to the West coast match Sunday afternoon, the Development League boys get their chance to be the last match of the day (2:55pm) against an East Perth perched at the top of the ladder. After going close to another top of the ladder side in South last week, this again looks to be a mouth-watering contest, with our boys keen to bounce back after that narrow two point loss last week.
Out of the side will go Tyler Chalwell, who will miss with an ankle injury, whilst strong performances by a number of players at community level on the weekend will have their names in front of the match committee.
The Colts, after a very promising start to their match last week, will also look to bounce back and a win will keep them in touch with the top sides as they head in to a very important period of the season when the State 16’s and 18’s players go in to their respective training camps. A nasty foot injury to Cameron Zurhaar will unfortunately see him sidelined, whilst a number of PSA boys must now commit to school football, leaving the door open for a number of players to take an opportunity. After a solid performance at community level on the weekend, key forward Nicholas Bonomelli, looks set to return, whilst the likes of Ambrose Ryan, Tom Eastaugh, Kennedy Sorrell and Joey Eardley have returned from a school trip and will also come in to consideration.
The Colts match will begin at the later time of 9:40am this Sunday.
